Default Yet another Transmission question

Ok, so i'm trying to get the shift linkage all reassembled. While taking the arm that goes over the top of the transmission off i accidentally took the wrong bolt off first (the one that has a spring and sleeve inside the bottom of it). Under the car, couldn't see, everything done by feel. So, i can't get the bolt to go back in. My question is what exactly is this bolt, and have i got myself in trouble taking it off. I originally thought this was the fill plug for the transmission, but i have since learned this is incorrect and that the fill plug is the one circled below.

Just to clarify, its the one pointed to in a red arrow in the picture below. Once again credit to 75ohm for the picture. his happen to be the only good ones i have of the transmission.

when I had mine out, I undid that one just to see what it does...I don't think you've hurt anything...you might have to wiggle the gear shaft in/out to get it to thread back in.

BTW...nice clean tranny!

I wish i could take credit for the tranny, but like i said, its 75ohm's, not mine. Someday mine will look that good.

Yeah I think it has a spring and a ball or so behind it so that your shiftstick feels notchy. Or a lock to keep that rod in place. Either way it has to come out if you want to remove that shifter-shaft going into the box.
