Well, since I am currently unemployed, I thought it'd be a good time to screw up my car. I got some bulbs to put in my HVAC controls (to try to make the lights whiter). I've managed to break several plastic clips and tabs, my snowflake button, and shattered one of the bulbs. What is the deal? Are these things SOLDERED in?!
More importantly, can I ship you this wreck and have your LED-trofit performed on it? Thinking about side projects??
BUH.

Yea.. all the bulbs are soldered in. I told you the climate control is a real bitch! I have some spare parts, so if you want to send me your unit and the bulbs, I can do it up.
Send me an e-mail and I will give you the address.
If anyone else wants this done, and you can do without the climate control or gauge pod for a week or 2, let me know.

Perry, how long are those LED's supposed to last? The thing that gets me is what happens when they begin burning out. Replacing LED's instead of simple bulbs seems pretty difficult unless I'm missing something here.

Putting an LED and resistor in there is about as easy as replacing it with a stock bulb. There are no bulb holders, they are soldered right to the board.
As far as how long they will last... pretty much forever unless they are over volted. I have mine in with a slightly large resistor. They last much much longer than any incandecent bulb.

Perry what kind of LED are you using? And what ohm resisters? I noticed in the pic you had it was pretty bright. I would like to add another 25% on top of the resister value you were using to calm them down a little.
