Post Cibie Headlight Status

Talk about an ordeal, but the headlights are confirmed to have left Paris this morning, Paris time, so are now in US Customs unless anyone has heard of a jet going down today.

Now it is a "clear the Customs" deal and besides being slow after 9-11 looking for hidden nuclear bombs and such, they are closed on Friday. I will probably get the lenses in my hot little hands towards the tail end of next week.

I want to thank everyone that has a deposit in and have been SOOOOO patient and not bugged me about this delay. I guess I'm lucky someone didn't start up a "That ******* IceShark Is Sitting On My Deposit For Weeks And Won't Deliver" thread.

I am totally sold out of my original order of lights. I will try and buy a few more lights out of the current shipment to cover anyone that wants some in the near term future. But due to working capital carrying costs, grief, and such, I'm going to raise the price $10 bucks a pair to $90 from here on out. That is still a pretty fair price to Rennlisters, I think.

So, if anyone else wants a pair quick let me know as it appears the normal course of business will be a 7 week lag, which I will now cut down by carrying inventory and acting like this is a quasi-business rather than just passion to get fellow enthusiasts the best product.

Thanks again to those that have bought a pair, made deposits, and been so patient.

Regards,

Dan

Move those periods up to mid-letter for the dictionary version.

You told me about the 26th being the date you would send the money in, so don't worry, I had you down on the original list as long as you followed through.

For those of you who don't know, even if Dam raises the price to $90.00, you are still getting a bargain. Aardvark International sell them for $114.00 a pair plus shipping.

Thank's Meany.

But to be fair, that isn't quite a true comparision, within 5 bucks. I'm selling without bulbs, like Cibie delivers. I believe Aardvark and one other outfit are going to include bottom end bulbs that will sell for about $5 a pair. And they will clear some money on these bulbs. Two words: $hit Bulbs.

I can get these too, but really don't want to now that you have a first class lens.

So the comparision would really be $95 to $114. Unlike Henry Ford, I currently give the customer the choice of what bulbs, *if any*, they want. At this point I am only doing/selling the popular flavors: 60/55 Premium (the clear up to 30%+ legal guys) or 100/90 Rally. <img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" /> The customer can do what they want on bulbs and I will help them figure out if it makes lighting and cost sense. No bait and switch bulbs like worthless PIAA to overcharge and make a markup killing.

Heck, I think everyone that has followed these lighting threads knows what I think about that.

Regards, daN

Well at least you didn't call me Damn.

Hey Dan, glad to hear things are moving again. I've looked around under the intake hose area for the ground but couldn't find anything. I will have to take it off so I can see underneath of it better. I have off this weekend so I will be able to look.

Thanks again!

That would be great, Tim, as I'm going to build your harness as soon as you confirm and the high temperature woven fiberglass wiring harness sleeve shows up.

One other thing to confirm for me is the style of plug that goes on your headlight bulb. The ones I have usually seen are an AMP manufactured connector (white plastic and you will see their name on the *** end of the connector) that is a tad over 12mm (~ 1/2 inch) from the face of the connector to the stop. The "stop" being where the connector changes 90 degrees to a larger profile.

These Delphi plugs I have to make this a simple plug-and-play system are pretty deep throated and I probably have to trim them down a bit for the old style hardware. No big deal, I just want your '83 system to be perfect as you have been one of the most ardent supporters of this project.
