Default clutch getting stuck in 84 944

I have owned this 944 for about 6 months and it has been a daily driver and i have not had any problems with it until recently, when I push in the clutch it sometimes gets stuck all the way down to the floor and i have to pull it out with my toes, it has only happened about 3 or 4 times but was wondering why is it doing this. I hope to god the clutch is not going out, I know there expensive.

Most likely master cylinder or slave cylinder.

I had simular symptons.
They got worse, and more frequent.
There was no leaking from either cylinder or the line between them.
I changed the slave. No difference.
Changed the master. Problem solved.

Pray you do not have the broken firewall problem. Your clutch master should NOT move when pedal is pressed down.

Dead slave cylinder but as a general reapir them both at the same time. I used rebuild kits on mine and used a brake honer to prep the bores. Just the seals were shot, bore was great.

+1 on the slave and master cylinder, I had the exact problem on my 89' I paid the "Bavarian rocket scientists" in Albany $750 to do that plus a few other small issues.

but the clutch felt much crisper after that...

Ouch. Master and slave PLUS a pressure bleeder should only be about $250 in parts. If you're reasonably handy, the job can be done in under 1.5 hours.

I do not know if the older cars are the same but on the S2 its just an adjustment.

~I can't remember how but I know there is a way to adjust the pressure needed to push the pedal in, by means of a counter weight spring. Mine did this after replacing the clutch. I took it back to the shop and they adjusted it in 5min, never had the problem since.

Yeah..they still do. But it's not likely to be that simple if you haven't had a clutch replacement recently where the required spring pressure would have changed.
