There's no o-ring required for the old 3-piece type, just the sealing washer under the hex head. Alignment is very important though so be sure and use the correct alignment tool.

Steve,
Re-installed the 3piece OPRV, used the alignment tool and switched the oil sending units wires to read correctly. All is good.
