What size spacers are required to make a 16X8 wheel from a 1987 951 fit a 1983 944?

Front or rear?
For reference, I have 17x9 993 wheeels on the rear of my 86 951 and I used a 28mm spacer. The front has 17x7.5 993's and I used a 21mm spacer. The 993 wheels have a 55mm offset front and rear. You will also need longer studs when you add the spacers.

On the rear of an '83, you'll need that 28mm spacer that Keith mentioned. But you'll need a 100mm stud instead. Parts list and procedure in the 944 Wheels FAQ section of my 951 RacerX website.
