will 255s on 8" rims with a 52 offset rub the left rear fender? anyone running this size on an 8" rim?

edit; anyone have any experience with a 255 on a 8" rim with a 52 offset?

255/50-16? Kinda tall no? They should fit on an 8" wheel, I do not know about clearance.

That might be a little wide on 8s, but I don't have 1st hand experience with it.

255/40/17s are 25" tall. I had the rub with 255s on boxster crabs that were wider than 8, maybe 8.5 and didnt have enough offset so they rubbed the left fender on my first S2. I ground the lip and it stopped rubbing, just days before ti was stolen.

Fronts or rears? I have 225s (but I need a bit wider since the wheels are 8.5") in front and 265s on 10s in the back (again, wish they were wider- 275s at least, maybe 285). I bought the wheels from a guy with a boxster, he used spacers in the front (either 6 or 7 mm) and the back (around 20mm), mine don't need any spacers at all, though. I'm not sure of the offset/backspacing, just that they are 18x8.5 and 18x10.

OK, let me rephrase it. 255/40/17 on a 17x8' rim with a 52mm offset on the rear, will it rub the lip of the left rear quarter (sorry i said fender)?

I had 255s on the 951 on 17 x 9" rims and they didnt rub, but i dont know what the offset was. I had 255s on my first S2 on 17 x 8.5 (i believe) boxster crabs and they rubbed the left quarter.

soooo, I am wondering if 255s on a 17x8 52mm offset would rub the left quarter.

225/265 must have a lot of understeer. ideally i would like 245s all around, but i get what i get and i dont get upset when i buy used from 911 guys.

Well I answered my own question, and here is how:

I had 9" rims on the 951. I went to tirerack and found out that they are 9" with a 47 offset.

I then went here: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp punched in the two sizes and learned that the 8" sticks out 18mm less than the 9"

Quick Reply: 255s on 8" 52mm offset - rub?
