Took car to dealer,danbury,c.t. porsche, weisach auto and farnbacher loles porsche techs to evaluate and they all say it doesnt warrant opening up car to check it out. I know about the pinion bearing failure so can anyone with experience tell me whats going on and when and if i have a break down eminent, thank you for your replys.

Does this sound change pitch ever? Does it go with car speed, with revs, or does it just stay constant?

Can you tell if it's coming from the front or rear?

Default 968 sound

sound increases very moderately as speed increases, can hear it better when driving on highways with concrete barriers so sound bounces back at you, its hard to pin point where the sound is coming from but its definitely the rear.

you might want to pull the rear rotors and check the E brake pads sometimes the retainer springs break and causes a grinding noise.

good luck
