1. turn key to position 2
2. turn on headlights
3. take key out
4. turn off headlights
5. open hood
6. pull out the manual handle for the headlight (pull it toward the other headlight)
7. now you can tilt the headlight even more vertically
8. unscrew 3 screws for the headlight bonnet
9. gently yank off the bonnet
10. unscrew 2 screws for the top section of the big round base ring
11. remove top section of ring
12. unsnap the metal snap holding on the wire plug, then unplug the plug
13. unsnap the metal snap holding in the bulb
14. the rest is just the reverse
Notes: your big base rings (the plastic body-colored trim at the base of the lights) will likely be cracked, so take this opportunity to JB weld it back together. Put a little bit of dielectric grease on the bulb contacts (a friend just had issues yesterday with a bulb and this fixed it). If further disassembly of the headlight mechanism is necessary (if the ring is shattered or something) then you will also have to unscrew 4 screws holding on the headlight lens, 3 allens holding the main bracket, THEN 2 allens holding on the trim ring (these have blue loctite), in that order.

I'd add
5a. remove front engine trim cover (if you have one)
5b. disconnect battery -- you don't want the headlight to retract while working...
