I don't know how this could possibly be correct, but I haven't shipped something this size before so maybe it is. FedEx online estimator shows $116, UPS shows $127 !!!
I am sure others here have sold seats...do these rates seem accurate? NY to IL
If the above figures are correct....no thanks.
Maybe I'll try selling locally, or taking it to the Hershey swap meet.

Check with Greyhound, you can usually ship big awkward things like this for a decent price.
And yes, those prices are probably accurate. I was able to ship seats for about $30 each, but these were reclining seats that I was able to squeeze into boxes that weren't deemed 'over-sized'.

Shipping is getting rediculous these days. It was going to cost $120 for a guy to ship me tires I paid $110 for. He just refunded my money...and I don't blame him.
Seats are in the same boat.

I shipped a fiberglass hood for ~$75. I couldn't see that seat costing more than that.
I just figured shipping if the box is 30lbs and the longest edge is 44", then shipping from Wichita KS to L.A. CA would be ~$41. It also would take 2 days.
The only drawback is that you have to deliver the box to Greyhound, and the person that you ship to has to pick it up at their nearest terminal.
Just trying to give you options.

Last time I wanted to ship something, FedEx wanted $120, and told me ground was not available at the FedEx building without an account.
I went to the post office, and shipped the same thing for $12.
I was able to, a while back, ship some seats for ~$30 ea. via FedEx before their policy change. However those seats were recline-able and I pulled the headrests off to force the seat to fit inside a box that fit the FedEx size guidelines.
I'd say that the above seat will end up going over-sized, which is still going to warrant the high price tag. That's pretty much why I've started to advocate the usage of Greyhound, as it's cheaper and faster, though slightly more inconvenient for the buyer.
