Converting power seat track to manual.
Hey all,
A few days ago I posted a WTB: Driver's manual seat track thread. I needed it to fit a '84 driver's seat in my '87 951. My old seat was power. I prefer the 85.5 forward seat track because they lock on both sides and also require 6 bolts to the floor.
It appears that the 85.5 forward driver's side manual track is few and far between. So I removed the power seat track from my old seat. I removed the triangular bracket from each track. They're in there with eight welds, so I used a cutting disc and removed the remainder of the welds with a die grinder. Other than the triangular brackets, the tracks are essentially the same as the manual ones. I just drilled a few holes and bolted them to the '84 seat with hardened steel bolts.
I figured that I would post this in case someone else has the same dilemma or if they wanted to use the seat track on a racing seat.
Thanks.
, Bill
