Default U-Haul Trailer Question

Anyone every trailer a 944 on a U-Haul trailer. When I called to rent one they said the 944 is not on their list of acceptable vehicles.

Anyone have a problem?

Always tell them its a Toyota Corolla or Nissan Sentra or some compact econo car. I had a 928 towed on their trailer with no issues.

Yup, they just won't approve any porsches for towing to my knowledge. My 951 came from SC on a uhual dolly. Tell them you are towing a VW jetta or something.

btw... the Miata isn't on the approved list either, nor is a Jeep Cherokee on the list of valid tow vehicles.... so if anyone asks, I was actually towing a Honda Civic with my Dad's S10.

haha i love this i have trailed 4 944-951 a bunch of times.

1st tell them you are going to tow a 93 honda civc
2nd tell them you going to tow the car to the next town ex towing from westwood to paramus
3rd dont even think about telling them about your going to the next state over.

last weekend i towed a 44 from danberry to my house which is in newyork and 80mi aways i told exactly what i told you and they charged me 60bucks if i would told the the "truth" then the it would of been way over 100 trust i know

I tired to get a trailer to bring the 924S home on. They had no issues with the Porsche, however they did have issues with the tow vehicle. We have a 2000 F150 with the 7700 towing package. Apparently they won't rent to you with that tow vehicle. It got lumped together with the Explorers that were having roll over issues.

I'm surprised to hear that they rejected the 944, but were ok with the 924S when i looked into it.

They don't even have my 2008 Grand Cherokee Overland on their listof tow vehicles. Actully no Grand Cherokees are on there. I will need it for the weekend to go to the track so I will need it for 3 days.

And if you tell them that it is some other car you are towing, dont bother to pay for the insurance on it because if something happens they will discover you have the porsche on it and not want to cover the accident.

I have towed my 951 and they had no problem with it. I to backed mine on the trailer, it is a lot easier to get the car up. The problem is then getting out of the car.

I recently called the local Uhaul to get a quote. Told them the truth - going from NH to VIR, need it for 5 or 6 days, towing with a Nissan Frontier rated at 6,000 lbs. Quote was around $50/day. I need to find out if it comes with tie down straps or if I need to buy them on my own.

PS - I asked how much the trailer wighed and he said "a couple hundred pounds". I guess Uhaul makes there trailers out of some new, extremely light material, that is finished to look like rusted steel.
