Default 968/951 parts in an early 944

will these 968/951 parts bolt into an early 944?

suspension (all early & late 968/951)?

trans (all early & late 968/951)?

engine (all early & late 968/951)?

interior (late 968/951)?

The reason I'm asking is that I'd like to make a stripped down street car out of an early 944 but with upgraded parts.

this has been covered a number of times. try searching.

in short, none of those are bolt in, and require special parts/modification.

In many cases a COMPLETE set of anything will bolt into any 944/951/968 with very little modification. The chassis are almost unchanged from 1982 to 1995.

There are always minor things, like the two-position tranny mount on early cars verses the single drop connection on late cars (85.5+).

However, if you are looking to completely transplant any major subassembly (suspension, drivetrain, interior), then in most cases it's pretty easy to do.

Things that don't work out so well are mismatches of late brakes with early hubs, or early wiring harnesses with late engines, or 944 driveline/tranny with 968 engine.

It surprising how very similar the naked 944/968 chassis are.

the idea would be to transplant an entire 968 or 951 supspension into a an early 944 to avoid the common offset problem and to get ABS.

what's the fix to put a late trans into an early 944?
