Default SSQ #3: Where are the door drains?

This is the third of several "stupidly simple questions" I'm embarrassed to ask. Search function didn't return "stupidly simple" enough answers...my .pdf workshop manuals don't cover this either.

Where are the door drains? I plan to put Dynamat in my 944, but I don't want to accidently cover drain holes that--for one reason or another--I don't know exist. Mine are probably plugged with stuff and without some sort of direction, I know I'll probably not find them.

Thanks,

Nick

I was just thinking about this yesterday. I am thinking about cutting off the inner door skins, and while looking at the doors noticed that there were no drain holes in the bottom of the doors. The closest holes are about 3" up from the bottom, which seems if the doors were to fill with water that high it would drain into the car. There is a seam along the bottom of the door where the inner and outer door meet, but there doesn't seem to be any opening anywhere along that seam. Weird.

The lowest holes are the ones you can see in this pic:

I remember closing my door one day and heard "sploosh" and was like wtf was that? Opened and closed my door again and realized my door had filled with water. I didn't know what to do so I used a metal hole punch and hammered a 1/8' hole in the bottom of the door and it all drained.

There are door drains at the bottom of the sill. Atleast on my 87 turbo, that's where I found them.

open the door, lay on your back, look up. you will see them. they are the things the pine needles are sticking out of.

Nope. Nada. Not on mine anyway. Maybe they had different door designs?

I'll show you a pic of mine, if you show me a pic of yours.

Thumbs up

That's what I was wondering...do different model years have different door drain holes? My 83 looks like shiner780's. Holes a few inches from the door's bottom.

Tomorrow I'll take Tom R.'s advice, and take a different perspective. I've been moving slowly, though, since breaking a couple of ribs on Sunday while sliding on an innertube.
