im working on getting a used one. i think i may swap a 968 M030 front sway bar for one. That's assuming he gets a trailer.
They work great for hauling tires.

I'm going way back in memory here, but I thought they had a rack that mounted alongside the hatch.
The manual indicates the two buttonhead screws on each side, at he upper corners of the hatch frams were for a ski rack.
Hmmm...that globalwerks lnik from Shwartz looks suspiciously like it uses those screws. I wasn't looking for a roof rack, but maybe that WAS the way.

If the ski rack in the Unsavory Thread was on a Zermatt Silver 944, then that's my car. And I can tell you the rack is not factory. It works very well though, despite needing to drill holes and R&R the hatch to install it.

Whatcha willing to pay for a NIB Porsche factory roof rack w/ ski option? I bought both separately on e bay two or three years ago and have yet to take either one out of the box. Probably won't use them so if you're interested pm an offer. I can't remember what I paid so if the offer suits they're yours.

Yes, you are correct. The factory roof rack uses the two holes in each corner of the upper hatch area.

The 928 and 944 roof rack uses a similar design. Here is an example for carrying race tires:
