Is there an easier way of disconnecting the parking brake cables from each side, other than taking off the calipers and rotors? I need to drop the whole rear suspension to replace my torsion bars. I should add this is on an 88 turbo. Thanks!

Anyone have a solution for this? I need to get the left rear parking brake cable off so that I can swap that suspension piece from a parts car onto my race car. I'm not even seeing the cable removal documented in the factory service manual, but I'm thinking that I have to take the parking brake shoes and stuff off in order to disconnect that cable, then reassemble the whole damn thing later... I could use some input from someone who has ether done this before, or who knows the recommended way to do it.

Pull the carpet up around the parking brake lever, theres a flap.
Theres what looks like two nuts, one is solid with the yoke. If you loosen the other one, you should be able to unthread the lever end of the parking brake cable and the cable will just pull out of the floor pan where it goes into the cabin.

It sounds easy but mine didn't just pull through. I cut the bastard.
Then again, I was completely decontenting the car for track use so I had not intent of ever re-using the stuff.

Just did this a couple of weeks ago. No need to remove the parking brake cables. There will be enough slack to drop it to the floor. Unless you're using a lift, then that's another matter.
Have fun!
