Default Can I follow the 8v HG prcedure for a 16v?

Hey guys I'm about to tackle my first head gasket/timing belt/lots of other stuff job....I can't find any procedures that are 16V specific. Can I follow the clark's and/or factory workshop manual's procedures for the head removal, etc?

I can fax you the factory repair manual stuff, or the stuff from my other shop programs. Both are easy to follow. Let me know.

Eh, more or less. If you consider yourself a competant wrench, I'm sure you can figure out the details as you go. There is one vital difference in the procedure.

On 8v cars the head is "torqued" to 15, then 35, then 66 ftlbs or whatever. On the 16v heads, the head nuts are first torqued to 15 ftlbs, then turned through a "torque angle" of 60 degrees, then turned again another 90 degrees. You really don't need a torque angle tool or anything. Just torque to 15 ftlbs, then turn each nut 60 degrees (I drew a 60 deg angle on an index card), then turn each nut 90 degrees (this one is easy).

Oh yeah one more difference. The whole part about taking off the cambox will not apply - you will have to take out your 2 cams and tensioner...

Jay, did you get my PM? I sent you a link to something you will like. Tell me when you download it so I can delete it - it's eating my webspace.
