What are the capabilities of DME?
Lets say I live in a deep valley -4000 Feet above sea level. Which would be about 3-4 Pounds more than at 0 feet. Can the DME compensate or should I not bring my car to my new home?

I'm a little confused when you say "I live in a deep valley -4000 Feet above sea level. Which would be about 3-4 Pounds more than at 0 feet."... There's no place on Earth that's -4000 feet elevation and isn't covered by water, so I'll assume you mean +4000 feet elevation, in which case atmospheric pressure is around 2 PSI less than at 0 feet, and that's no problem for a 944.
The altitude sensor is just a simple on/off switch that activates at 3000 feet, but it works well enough. The O2 sensor will keep the mixture right for regular driving, but it doesn't do anything for full throttle. Being at 4000 feet, you'll be fine though... I'm at 5300 feet right now and the car runs good. If anything, the car will run a little richer at full throttle the higher you go.
