Hi Randy - yep - need to make it out there When is the sign up for the late summer DE? Have you all found a replacement autocross site yet?

Bill - I suppose I could pull out the wiring so that I am not shipping the mercury and send it to you in a padded envelope via US mail for $10? Could go the UPS route and send the whole thing in a box for $15.

There is mercury in the wiring? Doesn't the wire(s) just plug into the harness on the underside of the hood?

But yeah, $15 for the UPS boxed option will work. I'd prefer USPS, but I assume you're doing UPS because of the mercury?

If you pull out the socket wiring there is a little plate that snaps into the top of the plastic that the bottom of the bulb touches. If you remove the little plate there is a vial of mercury that acts as a switch. If the hood is up and your lights are on then the underhood light is on but if you close the hood the mercury slides to one end of the vial and the connection is lost.

Boy that stuff looks good and the price was not that bad for finishing the job professionally. Funny thing is I ordered all new hardware from the dealer for a 914 engine project , most of it superseded to stuff that does not look original at all and is in about 5 different finishes. I called the guy that does my powder coating and he recommended plating, and I brushed it off thinking it would be too expensive to do a lot of small hardware. I am definitely going to reconsider it now.

Nice weekend to all of ya,
