Default Bilstein Escort Cup Coilovers (Front) Installed!

Pretty easy job. The only challenge was getting the strut nut off (strut rod spins with nut). A local Porsche fan had an impact air wrench and it worked.

I'm still waiting on the rear springs, so I've only got the fronts on (400# springs). I removed the front sway bar to replace bushings, and have done a little test drive.

For a "mutt" suspension setup (soft, old rear t-bar and shock + new, firm front coilover, minus front sway bar), it feels really nice. Alignment doesn't seem too bad. I set the eccentric bolts for max negative. Car tracks straight but seems darty (which is typical of a track setup). I'll give it a few more trips, but it's going to pain me to pay big bucks for an alignment.

To those that said Escort Cups are acceptable on the street THANKS. You are correct. It's very firm, but not unduly harsh. I had nastier coilovers (KW) on my old A6. I'm still tinkering with ride height, but my goal is to get the lower control arms parallel to the ground. I think I'm there now.

I am thinking of doing this setup. I would like to do Escort cup fronts and upgrade rear torsion bar.
