From the eBay post:
"YOU WILL NOT FIND A MORE COMPLETE, ORIGINAL, LOW
MILEAGE EXAMPLE OF A 1989 944 TURBO IN THIS CONDITION ANYWHERE"
Yet, he goes on to say that the radio is not original.

I call BS. My '89 has only 30K on the clock and is 100% original with the original radio and equalizer to boot.

Not necessarily true. Many of these radios don't even hold a channel anymore and the original speakers are powder by now as they were all made of cheap material (read paper), so in my opinion the lack of a factory sound system isn't something I would be holding against anybody that's advertising a STOCK car. I changed out my radio/speakers for the this exact reason.

The real question is whether or not they have the taste to put in something that complements the car ascetically! I searched far and wide for something of that nature and believe I did it with a quality (unique) Blaupunkt system in mine that looks as if if it could have been a factory option. Additionally I have C2 turbo 911 rims on my car but again as far as most are concerned, my car is still "stock". It's all whose looking at it and who has the money and what their opinion is!

Radio and rims aside my car won the BEST STOCK TURBO category at Fest '05, so again it's all relative!

All in all he's not going to let it go for less than $20K fellas! Now whether the winter market will bear that, I don't know. If you are looking for something like this, the winter is the best time to get a deal - that's for sure!

To me, a car is stock if the items can easily be removed. Wheels, well...easy removal.

Lowering springs, exhaust bits, spoilers...those all take a bit more time then swaping a wheel.

If the car has been serviced by a dealer you can probably expect a stripped oil drain plug, a cracked belt housing and probably some of the boots on the car are aged. Otherwise looks like a great catch.

Everything is for sale for the right price.

I actually have no plans to ever sell the car. The goal is to keep it and maintain it as close to bone stock as long as parts are available to do that.

The little was a clue as to the intent of my original post.

Funny this topic should get brought up in this discussion. I again turned down a "serious" offer about 2 months ago on my '89 951. This guy I've known for almost 10 years and is an enthusiast that has joked about buying my car for years... well you get the idea!

I'm in the middle of purchasing some beautiful land on a very secluded/private lake (for a house) and boy let me tell you - the money would have been nice to add to our savings but alas... why build a 3 car garage if you're selling the 3rd car - right?!?

My goal is the same as yours and it gets harder and harder each time I'm offer'd "serious" money! Let's hope we stay to our vows!

WHAT? Your radio was not stock? We'll be needing to repossess that trophy, Mr. Bogie. You are lucky we don't file fraud charges!!!!

My one brother with the 911 cab took the trophy anyways and has it in his office. His reason? "You wouldn't know anything about Porsches if it weren't for me sneaking you in to see Risky Business, so the way I see it, it's a thank you!"

Brothers...
