Well the seat slider handle is rusted in the open position so I've got two major items to deal with. Plus they are sports seats so want to delicately remove them. I may just cut underneath again to drill out the nut to remove them quickly and easily. I can then weld it closed. Since it will be a Spec car I'm going to fabricate in my own adjustable mounts rather than reusing the stock ones. That way I can easily remove the seat.

It's one of those things that there's no clean way to do it. Good luck!

May very well be, only water creates more rust whereas WD-40 or similar lubricants do not.

At any rate, my frozen seat rail came loose with this lubricant. Can't hurt to try it. YMMV

Well , figured I might as well update this with the solution (thanks for the idea stien.) For once I had to look for something to do on the 944 and remembered the seat was stuck.

I took the jack from the 944 toolkit, put a block of wood on each side and cranked away until the seat moved all the way forward. Sprayed a ton of PB blaster and worked the seat back and forth a few times. When I removed the seat the underside had ice an inch thick covering the back of the seat bottom!

After the seat was out I vacuumed and dried out the carpet , put some drier sheets under the seat and put it back in. The seat glides like new and the interior smells a lot better

hope this helps someone

already fixed most of the problem. 90% of the water was coming from the battery tray so I repaired that.. the other 10% is still coming from my leaky sunroof
