I wonder if one of those plastic mesh kitchen scrubber pads would work for that.

BTW, nice work and writeup. Thanks for sharing.

The hood on my 88.5 951 is insulation free. Not sure if that's factory or if it was removed when it started to crumble. In any case I plan to put insulation back on, but wanted to ask - is there any reason to wait on gluing on the insulation if I'm planning to respray the hood (the same color, just touch up) in the future? Factory guards red, maybe a bit oxidized or maybe just in need of a good polish, if that makes a difference.

Good job Luis. I started this very project on my coupe but dropped it to handle another repair. I better finish it up.

I know dealing with the struts is a pain, but wouldn't it be worth it to take off the hood and work on this without being over the engine, and bent over/twisted to get to the underside? I don't know that my back could take it!

11,000 kms on my new coolant tank and it still looks good. It has darked a wee bit, but still looks great!

When I boyght my car 2.5 years ago the PO had installed the new foam type underhood insulation, but now it is starting to peel off at the edges. Anyone know what glue is best given the high heat?
