OZ Racing wheel repair or replace
Trying to repair an old OZ wheel. The inner rim is destroyed. Need either a replacement wheel or an inner rim. 16x8 w 1 inch offset (5 inch backspacing). Also, anyone know where in the world I find the 10 pointed wrench/socket to fit the 7mm bolts and nuts?

I've got a complete set of those exact wheels. Trouble with mine are, two of them are not true. I talked to the Tire Rack a while back and they gave me a quick and dirty quote of around $130-150 per wheel to re-do them. They are the exclusive outlet in the US for OZ.

Humm. I've got 3 good one and the 4th the inner rim is actually torn so not realistically repairable. You've got 2 good and 2 bad. Must be some way ...
Thanks. I'll give them a call. I'm not hopeful. Really need a new inner rim or a new wheel I guess. There is a place near here in Baltimore that straightens wheels but since this is spun aluminum and needs welding I was of the understanding that repair was not an option.
Also, I'm not clear on how desirable these wheels are. Don't really have an idea what dollar amount it's worth the get em going again.

Huummm. I'll keep on the track of these; just because it's interesting. But it's entirely possible that the whole motivation to resurrect these as 'racing' wheels needs to be re-examined.
Just compared em to a set of 928 'trashcan lids' in the same size (different offset). The OZ are about 15 lbs. The 928 18 lb. And if I remember correctly the trashcans are forged. Even for racing (at this level in any case) a scant 3 lbs is not all THAT valuable, is it? And I estimate the 928 wheels are at LEAST as strong or stronger.
The absolute value may be off as it's only a bathroom scale. But the relative values should hold.

Interesting - I would have guessed that they were lighter than 15 lbs. Also interesting that no one else here seems to have a set, although there seem to be several sets of BBS's that look similar.
