Default starter gear

I'm trying to put together my new pressure plate and i need to swap the starter gear from the old one to the new one. It doesn't seem to want to come off the old plate. Do i just need to give it some more persuasion? Its off the engine, all bolts out, so i don't see anything else holding it on.

Yeah. Just give it a couple of taps with a hammer. It will come off.

thats what i figured, just wanted to double check that i wasn't missing something. At the moment i'm letting some of my home made rust buster soak in. Half Automatic transmission fluid half diesel fuel. The stuff works wonders and loosening stuck components.

Just give it a good pop in the backside with a blunt chisel. It will come right off, no need for rust penetrant.
