Default Fuel Line Inspection

I have an 87 944na and after spending some time under the hood and under the chassis I've been noticing much of the fuel lines have a sort of chalky white covering.
I am new to these 944's but as I understand it, it's not uncommon for them to go up in flames due to leaky fuel lines. What should I do about my lines? I haven't noticed any leaks yet. I head something about treating them with some sort of oil to keep them good- or should I just keep an eye on them?

All comments/input is appreciated. Thanks!

to be safe I'd replace all three fuel lines. It's an old car so it's like anything else it'll eventually fail.

The hard metal lines, you need not worry (that white chalk is most likely salt from the roads or light oxidation). I recommend everyone replace their soft lines, however. Inside their coverings the lines harden and eventually crack (after 20 years of deterioration). Just my opinion, but I like to play it safe.

Sounds like a safe and wise precaution to change the soft lines. Thanks for the update on the white chalky substance on the hard lines.
