Hey,
The foam seal on my strut mount is worn and I was thinking of replacing it. What adhesive is used by the factory? Any wrong way to install these things and do we really need them? One of mine is missing. I attached a picture.
Thanks

The one i bought from the dealer came with an adhesive back, nothing special really. I honestly dont think this seal is much different than the weather stripping available from Home Depot, which you can also find with the adhesive back. You can just cut to fit.

I asked the guys at Paragon when I was putting together my suspension upgrade package. They said it was available but not necessary. I imagine it would help with noise abatement... no shifting or clunking between metal parts.

Well, I do sometimes have a "clunk". I'll see if this does anything. While everything is out I could check everything in that area too. Might need a new bushing some where.

It's mainly to prevent squeaking and compresses so far that preventing clunks is impossible. Have you ever seen the ultra thin Teflon/Mylar strut gaskets used on most Japanese cars? They break just looking at them. I don't think you want anything there, including rubber, that allows any metal-to-metal gap at all.
