993 turbo twists - how to tell if its hollow spoke?

hilarious
what's the weight difference?
do they have two different kind of hollow spoke turbo twists? i've seen the 993 (like I have) and the newer kind with a more knife edge to the twist... can both be solid or hollow? (mine are solid/ribbed)

Both the 993/996 twists can be either hollow or solid.
18" 993 Wide Body Hollow Spoke's-
Front 18x8 with 225/35/18 weighs 43.5lbs.
Rear 18x10 with 285/30/18 weighs 54lbs.
These are with 700 mile Bridgestone Potenza RE050a's.
The wheels alone are about 21-22lbs for the front, and 24lbs for the rear. I believe the 993 solid spokes are something like 27-28lbs for front and 29-30lbs for rear.
One way to tell is indeed the valve stem. It should be a solid metal stem with a nut threaded down tight against the rim. The valve stem is clearly different then the valve stem on most normal wheels. That and the back of spokes are also solid and not carved out.

That's correct Cory, and I can confirm the solid spokes are 25lbs. front and 28lbs. rear 18x7.5&9's about the same as my 18" RH wheels, and a little heavier than the stock phones 16x8 at 20lbs.

The rear 996 hollow spoke wheels are for a wide body car, they have an offset of 40 (which moves the wheels out for a wider track... since the turbo (and C4S) are wide body cars).
It get to the point, you'll be able to use them on an early offset 944 with a spacer, but not on a later 944. On a late offset 944, the rear wheels (with no spacer) will colide with the fender lip.
You could run the front 996 hollow spoke wheels (8" wide) in the rear...
