Default Cross-reference for auto trans shift handle?

Hi everyone,

I just bought a 1988 944 with an automatic transaxle, and the handle for the shift lever is broken. I suspect that, at the very least, the plastic handle and button are from some kind of VW or Audi. Does anyone know if a VW/Audi handle is the same, or at least if it might work? I don't care if it doesn't have leather or a boot -- I can make that and add it -- just need a plastic core that fits/works.

Any ideas?

This is just a winter car for me, so I don't want to spend much money on things that aren't necessary.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Tony, I've got just the handle sitting in my shop. Not sure how I got it or what condition it's in but send me a PM and we can work something out.
