Default Temp Gauge not working

Last night I finally got my car started, and it did just fine other than a couple small things. The first is just a power steering leak which looks like a loose connection. The other problem is the Temp gauge isn’t working; it stays at the bottom and doesn’t move. The engine was getting hot enough to have a reading. Does anyone know if there is a way to check the temp sending units in the block to make sure if they are working?

You can check the resistance across the leads on the sender. ClarksGarage has a very good write up on how to do it.
