I just got the cable to hook up the power perfect to my laptop fro Lindsey however my computer does not have a serial port on it. What connector do I need to get this thing running?

also all the adapter wires I have found have a box that converts the signal or something. I am just looking for a simple plug solution.

 

You can buy serial to USB adapters.
I've used them in the past to program PLC's with laptops that dont have serial connections.
One problem I have experienced with them is that they not all created equal. Some worked for me and some didn't.
So, I can't gaurantee it's going to work.
