Default 944-spec racing in Texas

Is anyone racing SP1 or 944-spec in the Texas area ? I have a deal on a transporter and plan on making a few trips down to the Lone Star state. Should be able to fit 5 + 944-spec cars on it. I'm thinking the NASA TWS weekend and MSRC.

I will also bring over $1000 worth of sponsorship $.

We are hoping that there will be a 944 Spec class starting up based out of TX/OK/KS regions. There are a bunch of guys here based in KC that would like to start racing in a low budget fun 944 series.

Don Istook has been working on building some spec cars for clients, so there's rumblings. PCA, SCCA and NASA have been the candidates, check with them.

Please contact me by PM. I can set you guys up with over $100 per day per car sponsorship... Maybe more last year the Rocky Mountain Region 944-spec drives got $140 PER DAY PER CAR ! That will pay for entry fees. 944-spec is the way to build a low cost car that will win the race.

Great!
Let's build the 944 spec class in Texas, too!
We have a bunch of cars built to the 944 spec rules in Arizona, SoCal, NorCal, Rocky Mountains, Mid-West. These are the cheapest, most even set of Porsche racing rules ever!
Tired of being outspent, but not out driven?!
Come join us in the 944 spec class! Everybody has the same HP- about 135 at the rear wheels. This makes for very close, exciting racing.
Same tires
Same weight including driver
Same gears
Driving well makes the difference, not spending.
944 Spec is the best 944 racing class on the planet!

It only took a little over $5000, including the cost of the car, roll cage, etc., for me to have a competitive 944-Spec race car. That's really low cost for wheel-to-wheel racing... I had over $20k into my Time Trials car and it wasn't anywhere near as much fun as wheel-to-wheel racing, even though it had a heck of a lot more power.

Yep,

I went from a 320HP track day car that swilled 100 octane fuel, tires and brakes, to a 160 (crank) HP 944, and have not looked back - I'm having more fun than ever! 944's just connect with you in a way that few other cars do. You can safely drive them at 10/10th's without trouble, keeping up with much higher HP, but worse handling cars - very gratifying!

Here in the Midwest region, we've got $800 cash + $800 in tire contingencies per weekend! With Spec rules two set of tires and brakes easily last a season, so it's cheaper for me to race W2W than to do track days. There is no comparison between the two - best move I've made in years of competition!

I've met Don Ishtook - he's a class act and knows 944s like no other. Don even helped me diasnose a major problem with my current ITC car. Seems the shop I was initially trusting to go over my car overlooked a loose steering rack almost putting me in the wall. I now no longer trust anyone but KC Raceware to work on my car.

My plans are to compete in ITC in 2008 as the car I have is very competitive and even with me as a rookie driver I'm putting up competitive laptimes. But my plans are to help a local friend build up his 944 and we'll be dialing it in at many events while he gets his competition license.
