Default Battery / Ignition

Hey guys,

When I got my car, it was hacked like crazy, so I'm trying to figure out what belongs, and what doesn't. I'd like to improve the wiring on my car in order to make it more reliable (at least more reliable than what the previous owner did).

- I'm not a huge fan of top-post batteries. What is the specific rating that I need for a battery, so that I can order a new one as a side post?

- I'd like to wire a few things off "ignition" switched with a relay that takes the power directly from the battery. Can someone tell me what color wire I need to feed into under the dash so I can power a "switched" relay when the ignition key is turned on?

- Right now (and I don't know if this is normal), but there are about 4 seperate wires that all tie into the same positive battery post. Is this normal? I've never seen a car that had more than maybe 1 additional positive wire feeding off the battery, yet I've got 4?

Thanks!
