Default does a 944 turbo have a "ignition control unit"

1986 porsche turbo 944
wont start
i am able to pop the clutch and it runs fine
starter was tested and is fine
i was told it is a bad "ignition control unit"
the "ICU" is not even mentioned in the haynes manual
I think its a 944S only part
any idea where it "should" be located?
thanks

Would help to know what you are loosing when it wont start. Fuel or spark? and what does it do when it wont start?

Only the 944S and S2 were the only cars that used the ICU. Interestingly enough the 968 3.0L didnt use it either.

What he said...

Cars that ran ignition control units can't be push started if it's an ignition issue.

If you are push starting the car, sounds to me like you have a starter problem?

If it wont crank when you turn the key, but you can push start it sounds like a bad clutch safety switch.

There is no clutch safety switch on any 944.
