Did this engine sit unused for a long period of time? Those patches look like they might be corrosion from blowing an HG and just letting it sit....

You can have the block sleeved,talk to the guys at 944online.com,they did mine!

How was your experience with the sleeving? Are they wet or dry sleeves? How is it running? Miles since sleeving?

The PO says no -- I think yes -- about 2 years or so...

also take into consideration the condition of your crank and bearings, if coolant is down there too your engine could be toast and you are resleaving for nothing

I have a used block from my 924S, about 90k miles on it, original, never been opened.

Its an 88 924S which means higher compression, a little more hp than early NAs.

Plus it has the auto-tensioner for the timing belt. The car ran great nice and strong. PM me if youre interested.
