Default Removing Side Mouldings

Does anyone have any experience removing the side mouldings from a 944? Thanks in advance.

Im going to be doing this on my 924S. I assume they are glued on so my plan is to heat them up with a hairdryer to loosen the adhesive and then use dental floss or something similar to seperate them from the car. Ill let you know how it works out!

Watch out, they might not have been removed if there was any paint work done. Expirience speaking here.

Did mine. They are glued, and one rivet-type thing on the rear door jam which just popped right out. I used a heat gun then pulled. They came off fairly easy. The remaining adhesive came off with a 3M eraser wheel on a drill. There's still a dark, almost black, line where the strip was, but w/ my color car it's barely noticeable.

I still have the set of 6 pieces in nice condition, if anyone needs a set PM me.

I just used a steel putty knife, and it worked fine. No heat or anything special, but I suppose were I to do it again I'd use heat and perhaps floss, or at least a plastic putty knife.

PM didn't go through, I think you need a certain number of posts to receive/send PM's. Drop me an email jkarendt@earthlink.net Thanks.

Heat with a heat gun, peel with plastic putty knife.

If your car has been painted, chances are the painter painted them right onto the car. If this is the case, I'd use a razor blade and score them in the grooves between the car steel and the plastic...that way it won't peel any extra paint off too.

Careful on the heat, it doesn't take much.

I'll buy a good condition 6 piece set of side molding (preferably in black) from someone.
