Default Whats wrong with my central locking?

So it only works correctly if I use the key in the passengers side lock. If I do it on the drivers side the go up and then back down or down and then back up. Same goes for the switch.

What could be causing this? switch? control unit?

Also, I know the driver side has a manual override but should the passenger side?

Are you SURE that both sides are going up and down? I bet that the passenger side is not, when you use the driver's key or central button.

Sounds like the rod connecting the actuator to the lock on your passenger's side has fallen off and become jammed. Had the exact same thing happen to my '88.

Tear the door apart, and it will be obvious. New part is only $5-7 from the dealer, or 944online. Good thing is that it is an easy fix.

Good luck,

Keith

+1 ...the plastic actuator arm on the passenger door is broke. The reason you think it's working is because you're unlocking the door with the key and the central locking system is unlocking the other door. What happens when you use the switch inside? don't quite get your description.

if this helps...I fixed if we call it that my lock prob yesterday. In my case the driver's side door would not show the blinking diode when I turned the key to lock. oh it was locked but the car was not recognize it. the console lock works fine on both doors, and the pass side works fine. told about need for actuator. when i unlocked door on the driver's side (when locked from pass side of course) the friggin alarm would ring. i removed the driver door panel and speaker, and RIGHT BEHIND where the 5 1/4" speaker 'would have been', that is in the bottom well of the door a wire continues and two wires join. just feel for it. the connection had just come loose. all is well so troubleshoot this for sure.
