Default Urgent need a AC adjustment bar!

Just raised my car and found that the AC adjust ment bar has broken off and the AC compressor is loose, not just the adjustmetn bar is fully broken off but one of the bolts and nuts holding the AC on has falling off and the AC compressor is just held on by one bolt.

no wonder my belt has been squeeking like crazy the past week.

anyways tomorrow I got to go to school in the morning and this really sucks if I drive it like this I really risk having the whole AC compressor breaking off while driving, could possilbly take out the oil pan too.....

I'm looking around to see if I can find a suitable nut and bolt to at least secure the one side of the AC compressor that has no nut and bolt holding it.

would it be safe to drive without the adjustmetn bar for now if I have the two botls holding the AC compressor?

anyone have one in the Vancouver area I need one asap.

thanks.

What you will probably find is that the AC mounting bolt is actually broken off, and not backed out. I see that happen a lot. If it is, you will have to pull the AC compressor to drill it out. If your AC works, then you have to deal with capturing the R12 somehow before disconnecting the lines.

no I was lucky the bolt had broken off and just fallen out. Probably because I used a bolt that was way smaller in diameter after it broke off the first time.

I'm not sure if you're suppose to use a bolt and a nut of just a large bolt.

I had no choice last night but to use a large botl I found which is actually an m10 or m12 bolt, the one that holds the control arm to the body.....

I'm hoping this won't break off this time and get stuck in there...... I used a nut on the end to secure it also from the suspension. That nut was really big I couldn't even get a wrench to fit behind the Ac compressor to hold it.

now the AC compressor isn't moving anymore when I pull on the belt but the adjustment strut has broken off so I can't adjust the belt tension.

I actually need the power steering strut aswell. I tried loosening it and it was so tight it just stripped the nut, It think maybe the porsche mechanic shop made it super tight when they tensioned my belts.ll

I'll send a pm to you guys.

thanks.

The bolt should be threaded into the AC compressor with no nut. If you are using a nut, then I suspect the threads have been stripped out of the compressor.
