Default Ugh!Antifreese underneath 968

Got in the 968 this morning(it had been sitting for about 2 weeks) and as I backed it out of the garage I noticed a small pool of fluid on the floor.I stopped and went back in and checked to see what it was(clear but oily). As I was walking back to my car(idling) I could see it dripping out(not good!).I was going to try and drive it to Porsche shop but noticed temp.gauge rising(did not overheat) but needless to say turned around and shut er' down.Tow truck on the way now to transport but this sucks(actually the car has been flawless for the 3 yrs(routine maintenance)(87,000 on OD).Hoping for something simple like lower hose but probably waterpump(no experience with them on 968)(had multiple WP changes on various 944's though).Don't know what to expect at shop(what and how much?)I had just been bragging to my wife on how Porsche had the 968's figured out because it had been so problem free and user friendly.Oh well, just part of it(owning a P-car).

Could just be the heater control valve

Default Leak

Didn't think about that(HVC).The only weird indication I observed was the temp. gauge started rising(to 3/4 mark) and then flopped back down to(1/4 mark) real fast(not gradual like when the fans come on).Never over -heated.Wife said the tow truck came by and picked up so I should hear something later today. We took a vacation to New Mexico about a week ago and we took her car(Audi TT Quattro) but had seriously thought about driving the Porsche.Good thing!Getting stranded in the middle of BF Texas or New Mexico would have really sucked. Thanks for the ray of hope(heater valve vs water pump).

I have had to deal with both and would much rather deal with the HCV. I carry a spare HCV and oil filter wrench (so I can get to the damn thing) in both 968s now just in case.

Default Bad News!

Porsche guys called and said it is the H2O pump so she is going under the knife.(While in there going to do the belts,tensioners,seals,ect.).This will cost me some bucks but until now had been relatively economical(repair wise)(Porsche speaking).Waiting to hear what the estimated repair costs will be.

Default Got her back!

Picked up he 968 today (after waterpump replacement and major belt service).Big bill(lots of little parts to be repalced and or upgraded) but should be good to go for a while now.Runs great(actually ran great before so what did I expect).I was about due for the belt service anyway so got that out of the way.In it's absence,I had to drive my wifes Audi TT quattro(fun car) or my old MB 190E.The Audi is close but still just not the same.I almost felt like something was missing in my life(pathetic)when the Porsche is not sitting in my garage.I am whole again(but with much less money in my acct!).
