Default Wife in need of Porsche 944 assistance ...

I'm in need of some assistance. My husband has a Porsche 944 Turbo and uses these forums all the time. I'm looking to buy him a car cover for his birthday. He likes the kind that are cloth and that's about all the info I have. I want this to be a surprise gift but I don't know if this needs to be custom fit, etc.

This will be used outside for all kinds of weather (we only get light/medium snow here) and I would like something that is of good quality.

Does anyone have any suggestions -- I would appreciate it!

Thanks so much!

Yes, you definately want to get a cover made specifically for the 944 turbo. Places like automotion.com and california car covers (calcarcover.com) make covers out of various materials, including those made for all-season outdoor use.

You better get him a good one if he lets your car in the garage.

Hey;

I don't remember what brand or model, but I got a weatherproof cover from Automotion many years ago. It was around $200 if I remember. It has been an outstanding product. It fits like a glove so it stays on even in a really stiff wind. It has only blown off once or twice in all these years, while I'm always chasing down my customer's covers that have blown off. It is also waterproof, soft, not at all bulky, and has held up very well. Worth every penny.

Get the best one. You won't be sorry.

A 26 x 24 garage with 11 ft ceilings works quite well and I'm sure he would be very suprised. I bought several from Automotion.com http://www.automotion.com/productpag...ers#anchorLink

I have never used any outside though

I just recently got a Silverguard Plus Porsche cover for my 944T from Automotion. I bought a similar one from the Porsche dealer back in 2000 or so, and the sun pretty much killed it in 3 years (I live in the "Valley of the Sun", so it is pretty strong).

Automotion told me that the PLUS version is an improvement over the older Silverguard, and should last longer. It is the same cover that is sold by the dealer, and fits like a glove. It also includes a tie down cable with lock, so no one can steal the cover.

I would recommend this one to others, although I have not yet tried any of the Cover King brand ones.

Hope that this helps,

Keith

Coverking's Stormproof was on the top of my list, about $300. I ended up buying Coverking's Silverguard Plus for half that.

I don't think that would stop anyone from stealing the cover. I would put ZERO value in the cable with lock.
