dang, why couldn't I "accidentally" find a LS6 under my hood???

I'm going out and looking again. Maybe someone came and tossed one in there.

thanks Santa.

This is the best thread I've seen all day!

The S engine has 2 bolts that go through the head, right at the front water jacket (in addition to the 10 big studs). The S2 engine has 1 mini stud instead of 2 bolt holes.

This is what a 2.5 block would look like (i.e. a 951, or 944S)

Not sure how long your friend had it but that is the same color as the car I know of that is an S with a S2 swap. You might want to car fax it but the chances of 2 dark blue cars in the area with a swap like that is very rare. If it is the car I am thinking of then its actually a Grey Market motor from Canada and it belonged to a man in Xenia who was pretty big into 928s (Had an white S4 and his brother had an S). Also, I want to note it was around Aug,2003 when we went to look at this car for sale.

That's exactly what I'm looking for! I do remember the one stud, because it was such a tight fit to get a wrench on that nut.
Has anyone tried using an internal oil cooler on an S2 engine? I'm questioning if that's part of the reason I keep getting oil mixed into the coolant.

I don't know about S2s but I know 968s have external oil coolers. I think the S2 should have been the same way.

The only reason for going back to the old oil cooler, that I can think of, is that whoever did the swap didn't have the right oil cooler at the time, so they just took the cooler off the S engine and went with that. I guess if it works, it works. But if you're going to take it apart to fix a leak, you should try to restore it to the newer style.
