Default 016K Tranny ('87 MY 944S) in a late car NA 8v?

All my indications say this is the same dimensions as the 016J and would fit.

I *think* it appears to have the same short 5th and FDR as my current ASG tranny, but the rest of the gears look shorter (3.6 instead of 3.5 for first?)

Is this right? It seems that I'm going to barely be able to go 30mph in first gear, and a bit more than 50 in second (it does about 55 on the 15" and 57/8ish on the 16" race tires now)

Any 944S owners or people who have swapped care to chime in?

944S has 951 gears with 3.89 R&P ratio (NA ratio, but not the identical gear-S is stronger).

I have an S TA (O83D AGP) in my 83. 1-4 are taller and 5 is short like I think you mentioned you have now. . Fits and works perfectly.
