Default Instrument cluster question (are 944/951s the same?)

Ok,

I had to fix an issue with one instrument light not making contacts with the membrane on the back, so I bought the white plastic back plate with membrane from a lister. Now when my ignition is on, the boost guage doesn't read 1 bar of atmospheric pressure like it did before. Are all the membranes the same or do I need to swap the membrane onto the plastic backing? Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I'd compare the places where all the wires plug into the cluster on the back. If there are some wires missing from one of the connection points, it would explain why the boost gauge is not working (and hence answer your question as to if the pieces are different).

I would guess that they are different between gauge clusters with and without the boost gauge.

That's what I was thinking, too. Just wanted to know if anyone knew off the top of their head. Thanks!

among late clusters I think there are the following variety at least:

Turbo vs non-turbo
Airbag vs non-airbag

Well I just found out that the membranes were different. I swapped my old one over (the plastic back plate is bad on my old cluster) and now everything works great.
