Default Belt squeak on startup

I had my belts changed about 200 miles ago and yesterday they started squeaking when I start the car. It only lasts for a short while and then goes away. Is this anything to worry about? Could it be the chilly weather?

Check the alternator and power steering belt tension. Belts tend to squeak more in the cold, as the car warms up it will stop.

If you check tensions and it still does it then....a bushmans trick they use here in Australia is to run a soap bar agains the belt whilsts its running do it slightly on both sides (without chopping your fingers off), it wont squeak again, I've used it many times on different cars - it works!!!

Yes, and they don't squeak

Plus the belts are very clean.

Ya, check the tension, I changed belts and a souple days later they belts just stretched a bit cause they were new and had to be tightened. No self tensioners

alordofchaos, like you humour had to laugh at your comments, it sounds funny "bushman having cars, but in the outback of Australia you dont have access to tools and facilities so ingenuity is key, the tricks they do to keep their cars ruining are amazing, for example if they get a puncture in the middle of nowhere have no spare or air, they fill the tyres full of bush grass = runflat tyre...
