What's the deal with "no reserve" auctions, but a high starting bid? (Not just this one in particular, they are all over ebay)

Default there is a reason the ad is so poorly done

This guy actually doesn't want to sell but he's fulfilling his legal requirements:

Looks like a court ordered eBay auction.
The guy doesn't want to sell but has to for some legal reason.
What better way to guarantee that you get no bids? He's purposely provided a poor photo and NO description. The court order probably says that he has to place an ad on ebay including a photo of the car, and that's exactly what he's done. If my theory is correct then this guy is pretty smart.

His wife is probably trying to get him to sell his beloved 944 or worse still it stinks of a divorce settlement. Poor Guy

My GF said that I should sell mine to which I replied

"I know you 2.5 years I have the 944 7 years - you do the maths"

That's awesome. My gf wouldn't tell me something like that cause I'd probably try to sell her car, or her.

I was thinking the wife said he needed to sell it. I've seen that a few times with old 'Vettes and stuff and they're asking such a high price it'll never sell.

Reserve auctions cost more money. So setting a high opening bid allows you to avoid the whole reserve game.

About the ad - I was cracking up!!!
