Default Just Imagine......

.....if they came back with the 944. I know both sides of the, "why they stop producing it" story, but if only...Same car, same body, with all the necessary upgrades. Just imagine no more oil leaks, power steering leaks, seized joints, leaky hatches, the list goes on. I think I would sell just about everything I own for a brand new 944. These thoughts arose as i was driving a buddy home. I was considering doing a small burnout (raining over here, no damage would have been done), and i immediatly stopped myself. I thought to myself, damn I wish this car wasnt so fragile.

Off Topic But i was just daydreaming....

Oh, I could hide 'neath the wings
Of the bluebird as she sings.
The six o'clock alarm would never ring.
But it rings and I rise,
Wipe the sleep out of my eyes.
My shavin' razor's cold and it stings.

Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.

You once thought of me
As a white knight on a steed.
Now you know how happy I can be.
Oh, and our good times start and end
Without dollar one to spend.
But how much, baby, do we really need.

Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.
Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.

To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.

Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.

I think they hold up pretty well however there are a couple things that would be nice:
1. New composite plastics that don't crack, fade, and become EXTREMELY brittle
2. Better timing belt / balancer belt setup
3. NO MORE COLOR MATCHING INTERIORS. Gawd I hated looking into nice cars for sale only to find some puke color interior.

i just havnt got to enjoy her yet. It was all good for a month, then crap hit the fan. With the running hot problem (parts from paragon shipped!), i now have a sunroof leak, a break sticking problem, and a wierd relay buzz (see other thread). I understand fixing a 944 is half the fun but its the usual story, more time tires off the ground than on. Well i gotta go to work to put some more $$ into her. Ahh, its just a love hate relationship.........

I have only two requirements for a new 944 if the engine options were kept the same - tubular spaceframe chassis + carbon composite or aluminum body.

(Maybe three) Decent center console hinge

Just think if they produced a 2,500 lb car with a 400 bp 3.0 turbo. wouldn't be a far stretch with todays tech

I hope everyone is also daydreaming about how to come up with over 100k to buy a 944, cause thats what it would take when you start talking about completely redesigning the underpinnings of the car and throwing tubular spaceframes, carbon fiber, and 400 hp engines around.

Unless you want a zo6.

No more interference engine...

Well if they were to come back with the '944' it would probably be more like a 968...

And Lotus isn't using a 400 hp engine- I know that wasn't your suggestion gina.kane, but still. I think the first post was more along the lines of buying a 944 that is very close to the original, just with a few tweaks.

I want them to bring back the 968 with an updated interior, and the 16V 3.0 liter motor, but now turbocharged. That would be a sweet car. I know they already made a 968 Turbo, but only like 15 of them...
