Default Gas smell inside cabin

When ever I shut my car off and leave it sit for a little bit there is a strong odor of gas inside the car. I just replaced the Carbon Canistor as there was a Porsche service bullitin on it and my car had the simptoms. But I still have a gaas smell inside the car. What could be causing this?

On my old early 85, the hose connecting the filler to the tank was loose. It caused a strong gas smell. Just remove the carpet on the right side of the hatch, and check the clamps. I tried lots of things before finally getting it.

On my early car there is a hose attached to a spigot under the filler neck. It came off and if the gas jockey was careless, gas spilt in the filler neck area dropped into the cubby. Took a while to figure this out, re-attached hose so spilt gas ran down hose onto the ground, hope it helps,

your tank could also have a crack or seep somewhere on it. from careless lift jockeys.

i have this problem also on my 924S

would be cool to have a checklist for this problem

i can follow a thread but would prefer working from a checklist.

is the gas smell an indicator of fire risk?

It helps if you make an adapter to go over the filler neck and pressurize the tank to about 5 psi and listen for leaks. If there is a leak that will deffinetly help you to find it.
P.S. One guy brought a car in that the previous owner put an aftermarket amp in trunk. He secured the amp with 3 inch long wood screws. Guess where the screws went.....oops!

mine ended up being broken brittle hose, busted by careless smash repairer

every left hand corner I took, strong gas smell would enter cabin, I thought at first fuel cap, but there was no smell on the outside of car/neck

My gas lines were hard and cracked. Fuel never leaked but the smell came into the cabin after sitting.

I had this SAME problem recently!

I figured out I was actually eating Taco Bell before piloting the car.

hey - what are the steps to pulling back the carpeting to reveal the hoses?

my issue is a gas smell when i fill all the way. i fill 3/4 of the way and no probs.
