Default City Mileage?

I've seen comments about freeway mileage here before. I do a lot of city/hill/backroads driving (not freeway), and make 18-20 mpg - this seem about right for non-freeway driving? I recently replaced the O2 sensor and spark plugs.

usually 24 but it's hard not to mix some lead foot driving... then it's in the high teens.

I've found that by timing it just right, you can get 23 mpg city using only first and fourth. I take first gear up to about 5 grand and slip into fourth (after the car's warmed up, of course) and unless there's an extreme uphill gradient that's all I've needed. And I've filled up twice after just driving around campus -- 25 mpg avg. the first time and 22 the second time.

That is about the same mileage i get, 18-20mpg around town and through the back roads. When i am very aware of fuel mileage i have done 22-24 before.

I got 25 mpg in my 924S. The car had a fresh engine and was well tuned.

Given your route to work Darren that MPG does not surprise me in the least.

And I thought as much, but wanted to make sure. I'd drive the freeway...but after taking Germantown...it's sooooo boring! For discussion, here's my route.

Well the do seem to get better milage with the o2 sensor connected. After a year of not having it connected, I didn't know, it did a lot better.

I am driving my third 944 (1986 n/a) and all of them get 29 to 31 mpg. Usually acc. to 4000-4500 rpm
before shifting, sometimes skipping a gear. Drive mostly on back roads, some gravel with very little
interstate. Like to go fast ( one ticket so far). Lots of hills and curves!

Hard to know what the speed limit and your speed are from the map, but I'd guess that my car would return 23-25 on a road like that. That includes a fair use of the throttle.

Whoa. Your ride to work looks like a hell of a lot of fun. Mine... not so much.
