Atlanta GTG - Photo Op and Drive
#17
Hey Josh...
Thanks for the heads up. I've barely driven the 951 recently - good reason to take her out.
I think I'll meet up with the group near Dawsonville. 7:30 is a little early for me to drive down to Sandy Springs.
See everyone on Sunday...

Sounds like there is going to be a nice number of cars there if everyone can get up in time. We want to get on the road pretty quick - I would figure that we will be taking a few pics at 7:30 and rolling out pretty quickly after that.
Here is what I am proposing as a route - little different than last time just to keep things new. Let me know if you have a suggestion for a modification.
GA400 North to Brown's Bridge Rd. This is the first intersection after exit 17. Take a left and then right onto Hwy 9. We will wind along and go through Dawsonville and then deadend into Hwy 52 and go right.
Take Hwy 52 into Dahlonega. We can re-group at the circular drive in front of North GA College by the Gold Dome.
After that we can head out through Dahlonega and take a left on hwy 60. We will come to a dead end and continue left onto Hwy 60.
At the R ranch we will take a left and continue north on Hwy 60 to Suches - we can re-group at the gas station there on the corner with Hwy 180. We can then take Hwy 180 out to Hwy 129 and take a right on it.
At the very top of the mountain is a rest-area/parking area. Let's stop/regroup there, assuming that there is enough parking.
We will continue down 129 into Cleveland and then hang a right onto 115/Dahlonega hwy.
This will take us right back down to the top of 400 - we can regroup at the gas station there on the right. We can compare notes and then call it a day from there.
I would suggest printing this route out and taking it with you along with my cell number. I'll have a Garmin with me and I've been down these roads before.

If I can swing it, I might bring the 930 out for a spin. I need to get stickers for you guys, most of you have the Vitesse go fast goodies on board!

Hey guys...I popped over from the 993 board with a little info.....I just got back from a short mountain run this morning...Cool and quiet right now, but the Harleys and sport bikes were already arriving in Dahlonega in droves when I came back through town...It's going to be a crowded weekend up here...If you take the drive, be advised that the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Department (Dahlonega) has been running a "No Tolerance" campaign all summer...The excessive behavior of the sport bikers and WRX/EVO rally wannabes has pretty much ruined it for everyone else. Apparently, the same thing has happened at Tail of the Dragon.

Thanks for the heads-up, Terry. I guess it was a matter of time. Oh shoot, I'll probably go anyway.

This looks to be an excellent turnout - seems to be much better when there isn't a lot of notice - maybe that and we just happened to pick a good weekend?
