I found this S2 in town and I don’t think that is the stock motor in there. Did they come with a VARIO CAM in those years?

Looks like the stock s2 engine to me. (I could be wrong, Im not a 16v guy)
No s2 had variocam. It was introduced in the 968.

That is defenetley not the original motor, it has a 968 3.0L engine, so yes this particular 944S2 has Variocam (though it didnt come from the factory this way).

It may not have variocam just because it says it on the head -- it may only have a 968 intake manifold, or 968 head, or 968 valve cover.
But that's definately not the top of what a 944S2 motor looks like. Can't tell if the bottom end of the motor is a 944S2 block or a 968 block...

I BOUGHT THIS CAR ONCE ALREADY!!!
When it was listed on ebay with a "Make Offer" on it. So I made an offer of $6500 and they ACCEPTED the offer. Then they wrote me a couple emails stating it was just a mistake and the minimum they would go was $8500. They were total idiots. The ad said it was "babied" and yet it was missing interior pieces... they had NO real history. etc.
Here's the original thread..

Geeze! If that's worth $12,000, then my '91 is worth $14k+.
Crazy what some people want for cars in that shape. It needs a lot of little tid bits that will add up...and the miles.

I really like the car, I want to buy it for my wife but he is stuck at $8500 and will not budge. Oh and he has a nasty Black 951

Any way I’m going to look at a 1990 S2 CAB $7500 121k miles looks good, I’ll find out. I think the wife would like it much better.
